5/28 Pisac Ruins

Today we hiked to the Pisac ruins. After our class we had lunch (cooked vegetables, potatoes, chicken, and juice) then took the bus to Pisac. The bus was taking everyone up to the ruins. Then they could look around and walk home. Libby, Annette, and I decided to hike up so we could see more things and so we could get ready for our Machu Picchu trek. The hike took about and hour and a half. It was a little hard. The whole way was very steep (a good portion was thin, steep stairs) and rocky and it was also at high altitude. When we got to the top, we ran into the people who had taken the bus (they had gotten there an hour earlier and had already looked around) and talked to them for a minute and then we looked around. There were a lot of ruins that were pretty far apart. We walked around and looked at the different ruins. The scenery down to the valley and across to the other mountains was beautiful. Many of the ancient terraces are still in use so there are people (in sandals) hiking up and down to their farms. We could also hear flute music the whole time we were up at the top. After we were done looking around we walked back to Pisac, making it a three-hour hike.
