Today we went to the school to leave for Taray. We got to the school at about 9:30 and did e-mail until we left. First we left the school by taxis. We drove for about 15 minutes then got out of the taxis and onto a public bus. Our luggage went on the roof of the bus (except my bag which had the computer and Libby’s bag with had our passports, the money, credit cards, etc.). Then we started driving. After about 20 minutes the bus stopped and about 10 more people got on. Because there weren’t any other seats, the other people had to stand the whole way (an hour or so). Once we got to Pisac, the bus stopped and we got off and took the 3-wheeled taxis (see picture) to Taray (about 10-15 minutes on a dirt road). Then we walked about a block to our school and were given our keys and our rooming assignments. Libby and I are sharing a room with a very nice bathroom. After an hour or so we left for Pisac to look at the market before dinner (at a restaurant in Pisac). I got a sweater for myself (about 10 dollars) and a gift for somebody. Then we went to dinner. I had trout and Libby had beef. It was pretty good but nothing special. Then we walked back to a little pastry shop (where all the locals get their pastries) and I got a really good bun/bread thing with nuts and sugar and Libby got a chocolate that had something like marshmallow in it. They were both really good. Then we took the little taxi back to the school and went to bed.
